Welcome to the Oxford Group, we meet at the The Crown & Thistle in Abingdon (Location of Oxford Group) on the second Thursday of each month and we enjoy catching up with each other with a coffee or tea and over breakfast and either listening to a knowledgeable speaker or studying a thought provoking DVD series. We conclude with prayers.
Meeting at 07:30 until 09:15 means the meeting does not impact too much on the working day, on the contrary we usually feel encouraged and uplifted after each meeting and at £14 we value the regular input.
As the coordinator of this group I would personally like to invite you to sign up below to receive our monthly invitation to this group.
Oxford Breakfast – Thursday, 14th March 2019
This month we welcome James Greig, a lawyer from Blake Morgan, who will give a talk entitled:
“Lawyers, Liars, and Rhinos”
James has been a partner at Blake Morgan, a top-50 law firm, for the last five years, having graduated with a Law Degree from Kings College London and Theology at Cambridge University. Prior to his current practice, James left law for nine years to work as a church minister and is now a Deacon at Magdalen Road Church in Oxford.
For over 30 years, James has conducted Bible-themed tours at the British Museum and the Ashmolean, which led to being featured in a Times article as lawyer with hobbies with a difference. His team in Oxford handle “wills, trusts, probate and inheritance tax planning”. Personally, James delivers training for the Chartered Institute of Taxation on inheritance tax. He has appeared on local radio and national breakfast television when “Lasting Powers of Attorney” were introduced.
He is well known in the Oxford professional community and is a trustee of a number of family and charity trusts. He is married to Emily and they have two (nearly) adult children.
His talk will be fascinating and will also offer a chance to ask all those questions you have wanted to put to lawyers but were afraid to ask!
