Oxford Group

Welcome to the Oxford Group,  we meet at the The Crown & Thistle in Abingdon (Location of Oxford Group) on the second Thursday of each month and we enjoy catching up with each other with a coffee or tea and over breakfast and either listening to a knowledgeable speaker or studying a thought provoking DVD series. We conclude with prayers.

Meeting at 07:30 until 09:15 means the meeting does not impact too much on the working day, on the contrary we usually feel encouraged and uplifted after each meeting and at £12 we value the regular input.

As the coordinator of this group I would personally like to invite you to sign up below to receive our monthly invitation to this group.

Kind regards

Oxford Breakfast – Wednesday 14th November 2018

This month we are excited to have Rev. Canon Mark Oxbrow who will address us on

“QBL Businesses – God’s Bottom Line for Business”

Building on what Paul said about “Business as Mission” at our October meeting, Mark will look more closely at God’s criteria for “good business” by exploring the Quadruple Bottom Line (“QBL”) concept.

All of us in business are familiar with the single bottom line of profit, or if you prefer, financial viability but might God have a more challenging and more rewarding bottom line for our business?

In looking at the QBL, Mark will also explore two other related issues: (1) Is business closer to God’s Mission than church planting? and (2) Do entrepreneurs make better missionaries than Bible school graduates?

Mark was brought up in an English Anglican family, where he was educated by Roman Catholic monks, brought to faith in Christ by an Ethiopian Mennonite, and discipled by Baptist and Orthodox Christians.

He has degrees in Theoretical Physics and Theology and is ordained as an Anglican minister.

Having pastored local churches in the UK and ministered in the field of mental health, Mark served as both Director and Assistant General Secretary of the Church Mission Society.

In 2008, Mark left his Anglican mission to establish Faith2share, an international network of mission agencies focusing on discipleship, collaboration and emerging mission movements.

Mark retired in May 2018 and splits his working time between the Oxford Center for Mission Studies and the Anglican Communion Office in London. Mark currently serves as President of Feed the Minds, chairs the board for the Centre for Muslim-Christian Studies in Oxford and is board member of several other Christian agencies as well as ministering in his local Anglican church in Oxford.

Fruit juice and tea / coffee will be available on arrival when you sign up please make your choice from a menu of 4 options for breakfast.

Option 1 – Eggs Benedict – Poached egg on a toasted muffin with bacon and hollandaise sauce

Option 2 – Eggs Fungi – Poached eggs on a toasted muffin with Portobello mushroom and hollandaise sauce

Option 3 – Bacon Brioche – Smoked bacon in a toasted brioche bun

Option 4 – The English – Bacon, sausage, eggs, grilled tomato, Portobello mushroom and toast

Please join us on Wednesday 14th November, invite a friend and be inspired to live out your faith in your business and take it to the next level.

Yours – David
